A practical pattern atlas
Practise passage recall without spiritual scoring
Help a person with a specific learning task.
The person chooses a passage and edition to learn.
Proposed flow
- Choose aim
Distinguish familiarity, recall and reflection.
- Listen or read
Use verified wording and explicit repeat boundaries.
- Try recall
Offer voluntary hide-and-reveal or consented recording.
- Self-check
Compare against the same edition; explain evaluation limits.
- Close
Acknowledge the exercise without ranking faith or requiring a streak.
Recovery and alternative routes
Edition changes, accessibility needs and recording refusal retain a manual alternative. Repeated playback alone is not evidence of recall.
What counts as a complete outcome
The learning task has feedback; spiritual maturity is not scored.
Decisions within this flow
Recall is optional and specific
Distinguish repeated exposure, a recall exercise and a reflective practice.
Proposed hypothesis70 · Audio and guided practiceRepeat an explicit Scripture range
Separate what repeats, how often and what happens between repetitions.
Research-informed design proposal75 · Habits and spiritual formationGame elements serve a chosen learning task
Use challenges, badges or streaks only with a clear purpose and a complete alternative.
Proposed hypothesis38 · Habits and spiritual formationProgress without moral scoring
Acknowledge practice without ranking a person’s faith.
Proposed hypothesisEngagement facets to specify
Possible situations: Learning and memorisation. These are overlapping task contexts, not fixed user categories.
Specify the chosen purpose, passage unit, pace, participation, social setting, interpretive task, environment and disclosure or teaching responsibility. Use the scenario framework.
